The stubble field - Upper Wharfedale - towards Arncliffe
We had taken a day trip to Lancashire to buy some cheese from the Courtyard Dairy who make a superb selection of cheeses. It was a lovely sunny, summer's day and with plenty of time to spare I was able to make a few sketches (pencil and watercolours) along the way, some of which were worked up into paintings like this one. The light on the stubble field and the small cottage caught my eye. This painting is a larger version of the next one and shows the form of the dale and hills.
